Brent Payne’s career in the Audio Visual Industry began at the age of
6, wrapping cables with his father, Toby, onstage. Toby Payne started
his business, Audio Visual America, aka AVA / Stage Sound in the late
50’s, and sold his very successful Audio Visual company in the early
90’s. During that period, AVA / Stage Sound established a leading reputation
in the Audio Visual industry, servicing corporate clients such as Polygram
Records, CBS, Estee Lauder and many, many others.
During his early teens, Brent worked on the weekends for
AVA / Stage Sound in the Phoenix area, moving to part time at the age
of 16. Throughout the school year, Brent worked in the warehouse as
a service technician, and out on jobs as an A/V technician. This is
where Brent learned the nuts and bolts of the Audio Visual business.
At the age of 18 Brent began working full time for AVA
/ Stage Sound while attending college. He worked as a lead A/V technician
at conference centers throughout Arizona, including The Scottsdale Princess
Resort, Loews Ventana Canyon, Westin La Paloma, West Court and the Buttes,
The Biltmore, Scottsdale Plaza Resort, Hyatt Gainey Ranch and many others.
Brent also honed his skills as an Audio Engineer at many live performance
venues, including the Colorado State Fair, Telluride Bluegrass Festival,
Desert Sky Concert Pavillion, Mesa Amphitheatre, ASU Stadium, Tempe
Diablo Stadium, America West Arena, Symphony Hall, Civic Plaza, The
Radisson and many others.
During the the early 1990's, Brent managed the Audio Visual
department at the Turnberry Isle Yacht and Country Club Resort and Spa
in Florida. After that tenure, Brent spent 2 years on the road as a
camera operator, video technical director, and video playback operator
for sporting events across the country.
When AVA / Stage Sound was sold, Brent decided to continue
in the A/V industry as a freelance A/V technician. During this period,
he also worked as a low-voltage sub contractor, installing nurse call
systems, fire alarms and audio systems in local schools and casinos.
Working in the A/V industry from such an early age gave
Brent the experience and contacts to help lift him to the next phase
of his career - business ownership. In 2000, Brent and wife Lois moved
from Scottsdale to the Verde Valley and began to provide much-needed
Audio Visual services for the Northern Arizona region. In 2001, they
officially incorporated Audio Visual Specialists, llc. The most recent
accomplishment of AVS has been the launch of an online sales division,
ProAVmax.com.
Utilizing the professionalism, experience and
multitude of contacts gained over 30 years, Brent Payne has
propelled AVS to a reputation as a full-service, professional
Audio Visual company. Those services include:Rentals, Sales,
Consulting, System Design and Installation. AVS is licensed,
bonded and insured in the state of Arizona.
